Ingredients

For the Chicken Tenders:

1 pound chicken breast fillets, cut into strips

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

Vegetable oil, for frying

For the Honey Mustard Dip:

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup Dijon mustard

2 tablespoons mayonnaise

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, combine the chicken strips and buttermilk. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes to tenderize the meat and enhance flavor.

Prepare the Coating: In a shallow dish, mix the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). In another shallow dish, place the panko breadcrumbs.

Coat the Chicken: Remove the chicken strips from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each strip in the flour mixture, shaking off excess, then dip back into the buttermilk, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs, pressing firmly to adhere.

Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or deep frying pan, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering (about 350°F or 175°C).

Fry the Chicken: Carefully place the coated chicken tenders in the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry in batches for about 4-6 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the cooked tenders to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

Make the Honey Mustard Dip: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, and apple cider vinegar until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serve: Plate the crispy chicken tenders alongside the honey mustard dip. Enjoy the crunchy texture and the perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors!
