Ingredients

1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup chicken broth (or white wine)

Salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Juice of 1/2 lemon

Instructions

Prepare the Shrimp: Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Season them lightly with salt and black pepper.

Melt the Butter: In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Once melted, reduce the heat slightly to medium-low to avoid burning the garlic.

Sauté Garlic: Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Cook for about 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently, until fragrant and golden (be careful not to let it burn).

Cook the Shrimp: Increase the heat back to medium and add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Sauce: In the same skillet, add the chicken broth (or white wine) to deglaze, scraping up any bits stuck to the pan. Let it simmer for about 2 minutes.

Add Cream and Cheese: Lower the heat again, then pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine. Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring until it is melted and the sauce is creamy.

Combine Shrimp and Sauce: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet, coating them in the creamy sauce. Allow to cook together for an additional 2-3 minutes or until heated through.

Finishing Touches: Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the dish and sprinkle with chopped parsley. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.

Serve: Serve the creamy garlic butter shrimp over cooked pasta, rice, or alongside crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
