Ingredients

2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and quartered

1 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

1 cup Mountain Dew (or any lemon-lime soda)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for dusting)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a small bowl, mix together 1/2 cup of sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.

Melt 1/2 cup of butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar and vanilla extract until combined.

Lightly flour your working surface. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate the triangles.

Place one apple quarter at the wide end of each dough triangle. Sprinkle a teaspoon of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over each apple quarter. Roll the dough over the apples, starting from the wide end and sealing the ends.

Arrange the dumplings in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.

Pour the melted butter mixture evenly over the dumplings. Then, pour the Mountain Dew around the dumplings in the baking dish.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and the apples are tender.

Allow the dumplings to cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm as is, or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
