Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1/4 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

1 egg, beaten

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp garlic powder

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 tbsp olive oil

1 cup beef broth

1 cup sliced mushrooms

1/4 cup ketchup

1 tbsp Dijon mustard

1 tbsp soy sauce

1 tsp dried thyme

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

Shape the mixture into four oval patties, about 1 inch thick.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook until browned on both sides, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove patties from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and sauté until golden brown, about 5 minutes.

Stir in the beef broth, ketchup, Dijon mustard, soy sauce, and thyme. Bring to a simmer.

Return the patties to the skillet, cover, and let them simmer in the sauce for about 10-15 minutes, or until cooked through and the sauce thickens slightly.

Serve the Salisbury steaks with the mushroom gravy poured over them, and garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
