Christmas Trifle

A delightful twist on a classic dish.

Ingredients
  

1 pound cake, cut into cubes

2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)

2 cups vanilla custard (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup raspberry jelly

Zest of 1 orange

1/4 cup flaked almonds (optional)

Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions
 

Prepare the base: In a large glass trifle dish, layer half of the pound cake cubes at the bottom.

    Add the jelly: Spread half of the raspberry jelly over the pound cake, ensuring an even layer.

      Layer the custard: Pour half of the vanilla custard over the jelly layer, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

        Berries galore: Scatter half of the mixed berries on top of the custard layer. Feel free to mix the berries for a colorful presentation!

          Whip the cream: In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

            Create the second layer: Repeat the layering process with the remaining pound cake, jelly, custard, and berries.

              Top it off: Finish with a generous layer of whipped cream on top. Use a spatula to smooth it out.

                Garnish: Sprinkle orange zest and flaked almonds on top for added flavor and a festive touch. Garnish with mint leaves for a pop of green.

                  Chill: Refrigerate the trifle for at least 4 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld beautifully.

                    Serve: Scoop out portions into bowls or glasses, ensuring that each serving has layers of goodness.
