Ingredients

4 ripe bananas, mashed

4 cups day-old bread, cubed (such as brioche or challah)

2 cups whole milk

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

4 large eggs

1 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Pinch of salt

Optional: Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.

      Prepare the Bread:

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed bread and mashed bananas. Toss to combine and let sit for about 15 minutes to allow the bread to soak in the banana flavor.

          Make the Custard:

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon. Gradually add in the milk and heavy cream, whisking until fully combined. Stir in a pinch of salt.

              Combine Ingredients:

Pour the custard mixture over the banana-bread mixture, ensuring all the bread cubes are coated. Let the mixture rest for an additional 10 minutes, allowing the bread to absorb the liquid.

                  Add Chocolate:

Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips gently, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

                      Bake the Pudding:

Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.

                          Cool and Serve:

Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Serve warm, topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.
