Chinese Takeout Sesame Chicken

Ingredients
  

1 lb (450g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces

1/2 cup cornstarch

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)

1/4 cup sesame oil

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tbsp rice vinegar

2 tbsp sesame seeds (toasted)

3 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions
 

In a large bowl, mix the cornstarch, all-purpose flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

    Toss the chicken pieces in the flour mixture until well coated. Shake off excess flour.

      In a large pan or skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

        Fry the chicken pieces in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

          In a separate small saucepan over low heat, combine sesame oil, honey, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. Whisk until well combined and warmed through.

            Once all the chicken is cooked, return it to the pan and pour the sauce over it. Toss well to coat each piece in the sauce.

              Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over the chicken and stir gently to combine.

                Serve the chicken hot, garnished with sliced green onions. Enjoy over steamed rice or with your favorite noodle dish!
