For the Brownie Layer:

1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter

1 cup (200g) granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

For the Cheesecake Layer:

8 oz (226g) cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.

    Make the Brownie Batter: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from the heat and stir in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla until well combined.

      Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.

        Pour the Brownie Batter: Pour approximately half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly across the bottom.

          Prepare the Cheesecake Layer: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with sugar until creamy. Add in the egg, vanilla extract, and flour. Mix until smooth and well combined.

            Layer the Cheesecake: Spoon the cheesecake mixture over the brownie base, spreading it out gently to cover evenly.

              Swirl the Remaining Brownie Batter: Drop spoonfuls of the remaining brownie batter on top of the cheesecake layer. Use a knife or a toothpick to swirl the brownie batter into the cheesecake for a marbled effect.

                Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges look firm and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

                  Cool & Serve: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan on a wire rack for about 10-15 minutes before using the parchment overhang to lift them out. Let them cool completely before slicing into squares.
