Ingredients

For the Cake:

1 box yellow cake mix (plus ingredients required on the box)

1 cup chopped pecans (toasted)

For the Praline Sauce:

1 cup brown sugar

½ cup unsalted butter

½ cup heavy cream

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Topping:

1 cup whipped topping (or homemade whipped cream)

Extra chopped pecans (for garnish)

Instructions

Bake the Cake:

    - Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the cake mix box. Prepare a 9x13 inch baking pan by greasing it lightly.

      - Prepare the yellow cake mix as per package instructions, incorporating the toasted pecans into the batter. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan.

        - Bake according to package instructions until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan.

          Make the Praline Sauce:

            - In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream. Stir continuously until the mixture comes to a boil.

              - Allow the sauce to boil for 2-3 minutes without stirring, then remove it from heat. Stir in the vanilla extract.

                - Let the praline sauce cool slightly before using.

                  Poke the Cake:

                    - Once the cake has cooled, use the handle of a wooden spoon or a skewer to poke holes all over the surface of the cake, about 1 inch apart.

                      Soak the Cake:

                        - Pour the warm praline sauce evenly over the poked cake, ensuring that it seeps into the holes. Let the cake absorb the sauce for 30 minutes.

                          Add the Topping:

                            - After the cake has soaked, spread the whipped topping over the top. You can use either store-bought whipped topping or homemade whipped cream for a fresh taste.

                              - Finish by sprinkling the extra chopped pecans on top as a garnish.

                                Chill and Serve:

                                  - Refrigerate the cake for at least 1 hour before serving. This will allow the flavors to meld together. Slice and enjoy a delicious, moist Butter Pecan Praline Poke Cake!
