Breakfast Pigs in a Blanket

A delightful twist on a classic dish.

Ingredients

1 package (8 oz) crescent roll dough

8 mini breakfast sausages (or cocktail sausages)

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1/4 cup diced green onions

1 large egg (for egg wash)

1 tablespoon milk

Optional: hot sauce or ketchup for serving

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Dough: Roll out the crescent roll dough on a lightly floured surface. Pinch the perforations together to form a single sheet. Cut the dough into 8 triangles.

Add Fillings: On the wide end of each triangle, sprinkle a little shredded cheddar cheese and diced green onions. Place a mini breakfast sausage at the base of each triangle.

Roll Them Up: Starting from the wide end, roll each triangle tightly around the sausage, ensuring that the cheese and onions are tucked inside. Place them seam side down on the prepared baking sheet.

Egg Wash: In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Brush the egg wash over each pig in a blanket to give them a golden finish.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffed.

Serve and Enjoy: Let them cool for a couple of minutes before serving. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauces such as hot sauce or ketchup.
