Ingredients

1 cup fresh blackberries

2 tbsp granulated sugar

1 cup mascarpone cheese

1 cup heavy cream

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled

1/4 cup coffee liqueur (optional)

1 package ladyfinger cookies (savoiardi)

Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting

Extra blackberries and mint leaves, for garnish

Instructions

In a small bowl, combine fresh blackberries and granulated sugar. Gently mash the blackberries with a fork to release their juices, then set aside to macerate for about 10 minutes.

In a mixing bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and half of the macerated blackberry mixture until thick and smooth.

In another shallow bowl, mix the brewed coffee and coffee liqueur. Dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture for about 1 second, ensuring they get soaked but do not become soggy.

Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers at the bottom of a rectangular or square dish. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers, and then drizzle half of the remaining blackberry mixture on top.

Repeat the layers: another layer of dipped ladyfingers, followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture, and finish with the rest of the blackberry mixture.

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.

Before serving, dust the top with unsweetened cocoa powder and garnish with additional blackberries and mint leaves.

Slice into squares and serve chilled, enjoying the delightful balance of flavors.
