Better Than Anything Bars

A delightful twist on a classic dish.

Ingredients

1 box (18.25 oz) chocolate cake mix

1/2 cup vegetable oil

3 large eggs

1 cup hot water

1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk

1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup whipped topping (like Cool Whip)

1 cup crushed Butterfinger candy bars (or your favorite chocolate candy)

1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Optional garnish: chocolate shavings or additional candy crush

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

Prepare the Cake Mix: In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, vegetable oil, eggs, and hot water. Mix until well combined and smooth.

Bake the Cake: Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.

Poke the Cake: Once the cake is cool, use the handle of a wooden spoon or a skewer to poke holes all over the top of the cake.

Add the Soaking Mixture: In a small bowl, mix the sweetened condensed milk and caramel sauce. Pour this mixture evenly over the cake, allowing it to seep into the holes.

Cool and Top the Cake: Let the cake chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or until the caramel and condensed milk mixture has fully set.

Prepare the Topping: Spread the whipped topping evenly over the chilled cake. Sprinkle the crushed Butterfinger candy bars on top. If desired, you can also sprinkle chocolate chips and chopped nuts for extra flair.

Garnish and Serve: Optionally, garnish with chocolate shavings or additional crushed candy. Cut into bars and serve chilled.
