Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast

1 cup warm milk (110°F)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

1/4 cup raisins or chopped nuts (optional)

1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)

2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened (for frosting)

2 tablespoons milk (for frosting)

Instructions

In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt. Add the yeast mixture and stir well.

Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to a rectangle (about 15x24 inches).

Brush the surface with melted butter and sprinkle with brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Add raisins or nuts if desired.

Roll the dough tightly from one long side to the other and slice into 12 equal pieces.

Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and cover them with a towel. Let them rise in a warm spot for another 30-40 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the cinnamon rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

While the rolls are baking, make the frosting by combining powdered sugar, cream cheese, and milk in a mixing bowl until smooth.

Once baked, remove the rolls from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before drizzling with the frosting.
