Ingredients

2 medium-sized apples (Granny Smith or Fuji), peeled and diced

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg

1/4 tsp salt

2 tbsp granulated sugar

1/2 cup milk

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)

Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

Prepare the Apples: Peel and dice the apples into small, bite-sized pieces. Set aside.

Make the Batter: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and granulated sugar.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Whisk until well incorporated.

Combine Mixtures: Slowly pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Gently fold in the diced apples to avoid breaking them down too much.

Heat Oil: In a deep frying pan, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Fritters: Once the oil is hot, use a spoon or cookie scoop to drop small portions of the batter into the oil, careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, flipping halfway through.

Drain Excess Oil: Using a slotted spoon, remove the fritter bites from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Finish with Sugar: While still warm, dust the fritter bites with powdered sugar.

Serve: Enjoy the crispy apple fritter bites warm, either on their own or with a side of caramel sauce for dipping.
